Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.

Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapons and armor. This can be accomplished by many different methods that include using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.

The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required to create the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or rune. Many are upgraded by an upgrade suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful instrument for communicating visual information. They animate to capture the viewer's attention and spur interest in the brain. Each glyph increases the value of a stat by a specific amount. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is not the actual amount at which glyphs can improve the stat, but rather the maximum amount by which it can do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier and the quality of the item that you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.
When you take away an item after putting a glyph on it, the shards from the glyph will disappear. You can also add the glyph on your equipment to provide an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for players who suffer many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment, and can be found through a variety of methods, including in mistery boxes or as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an unspecified affix, which is typically better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, however they are still able to be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button" you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will alter the layout of the item's window and let up to six items to be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. Leveling
